The Tryon Archival Research Center (ARC) receives, sorts, categorizes, digitizes, distributes and maintains the archives.  The ARC maintains print manuscripts, photos, film, audio and digital recordings.  The ARC also maintains a reference library and a collection of art works relevant to the people of the area that may be made available on loan to art gallery exhibits.

The ARC recognizes there is a larger sphere of influence well beyond our primary service area.  We are receptive to material beyond our area that could be of benefit to the ARC collection goals subject to a review insuring all material adds to our stated collection objectives.
